Innovative Technology (ITL) is celebrating 30 years of its Spanish office last month. Since opening in Barcelona in 1996, the regional office has grown significantly, with particular success on the cash handling side of the business. To coincide with the milestone, Sales Director Mustapha Hadj-Ahmed, who led the office from its launch, has announced his retirement.
Commenting on the Spanish office milestone, Mustapha said, “When we created the Spanish office 30 years ago, Innovative only had a UK office and was looking to expand its offering into Europe. The Spanish team has had so many achievements over the years especially with our gaming customers. Innovative took a large share of the Spanish market with our cash handling products in the early days, and we have maintained that position for the past three decades. We have had tremendous success especially with the NV22 Spectral (NV22S). This compact mixed-denomination note recycler has become the market leader, with the majority of Spanish operators and OEMs adopting it as their recycler of choice.”
Today, ITL Spain supplies the latest cash handling devices to both the gaming and retail sectors, and has more recently begun introducing the company’s biometric technology to help prevent underage sales. The office is also supported by local Approved Service Centres, which handle maintenance, servicing and repairs for note and coin devices.
Looking back on his time with the company, Mustapha added, “Thirty years ago, we opened the Spanish office. Seeing how far it has come, and celebrating that together with colleagues from Spain, Germany and the UK recently was very special. It has been a great privilege to lead the Spanish arm of ITL and building a great team to support our customers. As I prepare for retirement, I want to thank the whole team, past and present, for their hard work and commitment, and our UK colleagues for their support over the years. I am proud of what we have built together and confident that the Spanish office is in very good hands.”
ITL Chairman David Bellis MBE concluded, “I would like to congratulate everyone at the Spanish office for their contributions over the years. Reaching 30 years is a milestone this regional office can be proud of. I want to give special mention to Mustapha for the outstanding commitment and service he has given to the organisation. As well as managing a thriving Spanish office for three decades, he has played a key part in our overall international growth especially across Europe and South America. Everyone at ITL wishes Mustapha a happy retirement.”
