Prerequisites

  • PC using Windows 8.1 or above

  • DPS Software

  • 1 x DA3 Handheld Programming Kit (PA03035) – No longer available to purchase

  • Latest DA3 SMT Firmware

  • 1 x SD Card

Min 2GB SD Card, Class 4. Sandisk, Kingston Technology and Transcend have all been tested. Format must be FAT32.

There may be Class 10 cards that may not function. Sandisk Extreme has been tested and functions.

  • UpdateV2.bin File

  • updateST.nv2 File if updating NV200ST or SMART Payout


Setting Up the DA3 and SD Card

Extract SMART Update zip to suitable location on PC

Place SD Card into PC memory card reader and copy UpdateV2.bin to the root of the SD Card

Copy updateST.nv2 onto SD Card also if you intend to update NV200ST or SMART Payout using built in validator card reader.

Connect the DA3 to the PC using the Type A to Type B USB Cable and open the DPS software.

Select ‘Change DA3 Firmware version’ at the top of the screen.

  • Select Latest SMT firmware, in this example DA310012625526SMT.vps

  • Select ‘Open’

Select ‘Yes’ to Update the DA3 Firmware

Once Firmware update is complete, disconnect DA3 from the PC.

Programming the Validator

NV9 Range and NV10ST

Insert the SD card with the UpdateV2.bin into Slot A on the DA3

Connect the DA3 to the validator using the ribbon cable and power it from the 16 way host connector. These connections are labelled on the rear of the DA3.

Allow validator to power up and ensure it is in SSP mode.

Refer to the Product Technical Manual for instructions on how to put the validator into SSP.

Press the Blue Play Button on the DA3 to begin the update. The button will turn Green once the update is complete and the validator will reset.

Disconnect the DA3 and re-connect the validator to the host machine.

Update Failures

The Play Button will turn Red if the update is unsuccessful and the BNV MATCH DOWNLOAD LED will blink a sequence code to describe the fail reason.

NV200ST and SMART Payout

Insert the SD card with the UpdateV2.bin and updateST.nv2 into the card reader slot built into the front of the validator.

The validator will flash a Yellow and Blue colour sequence during update.

Once complete the bezel will go Green.

The SD card can be removed and the validator will reset.

Update Failures

The bezel will go red if the update is unsuccessful.

If the original dataset file no longer exists you will receive this error and the dataset will need to be changed.

Since the release of the new website, currency datasets are now available to download from each individual Support Hub product page.

Sign up for your account

If you have not registered for your account, please follow the process below.

Accounts registered on the old website are no longer active. A new registration is required for all accounts to access the datasets.

Navigate to the ‘Login’ button at the top right of the website.

Select the link to ‘Sign up now’ at the bottom of the popup box.

Send your verification code to verify your email address.

Input your email address and select the button to ‘Send verification code’.

Insert the verification code received to the email address in the ‘Verification code’ box and select ‘Verify code’.

Complete the remaining fields on the Sign Up form.

Your password must meet the following criteria: 8-16 characters, containing 3 out of 4 of the following: Lowercase characters, uppercase characters, digits (0-9), and one or more of the following symbols: @ # $ % ^ & * – _ + = [ ] { } | : ‘ , ? / ` ~ ” ( ) ; .

Select the button to ‘Create’ your account.

You’ll be signed into your dashboard when the account is created.

Registration can take up to 5 minutes to replicate across the website.

Accessing the Support Hub

All support content, including datasets are now contained within the Support Hub of the website.

Once logged in, navigate to the websites ‘Support Hub’.

Accessing the Currency Datasets

Once you have navigated to the required product, select the ‘Datasets’ dropdown.

Here you can filter by currency by selecting ‘All’ in the ‘Choose a Currency’ filter.

Once the currency is selected, the table of currency datasets will be filtered by your chosen currency. In this example GBP.

Viewing the Dataset Information

Each line of the filtered currency table provides the basic information related to that currency dataset.

  • Version

  • Firmware

  • Description

Further information is available by clicking the Information icon of each currency dataset line.

Where available, specimen note images will be included in the dataset information to show accepted note releases.


Downloading the Dataset

Select the Download icon at the end of the dataset line.
