MyCheckr designed by Innovative Technology (ITL) was introduced to the expo market for the first time at the inaugural Vape Expo Pakistan, 2025 which took place on 7-9 February in Lahore. ITL’s Biometric Product Manager, Andrew O’Brien, also presented a session at the conference on how to prevent youth access in the vape industry using edge technology.
ITL are an international company who provide a range of AI age & identity solutions to prevent access to age restricted goods, services or venues to those underage. John Vallis, Senior Business Development Manager for ITL’s age and identity technology commented, “This is the first time our solution has been used to age-gate at a trade show and we are delighted with the result. A line of MyCheckr devices were placed outside the venue entrance which was restricted to 18+ delegates – the legal age to purchase and use vapes in Pakistan. If the device turned red, detecting a potentially underage delegate, the security staff were on hand to ID the visitor. This is another fantastic application for our technology which is already seeing significant uptake in gaming, vape stores, convenience and retail settings in the UK and across Europe.”
MyCheckr from Innovative Technology is an assisted age estimation device which is equipped with a camera and screen that quickly predicts a customer’s age completely anonymously. It gives staff an extra layer of security when checking age and asking for ID. MyCheckr Mini is also available for those customers who do not require a screen.
Amir Saeed, a representative from Vape Expo Pakistan commented, “Using MyCheckr technology to check the age of our delegates proved to be a great success. It gave accurate results in seconds and flagged any potential underage customers so exhibition attendants could ask them to present ID. It was a great aid for venue staff, ensured no one underage entered the exhibition and helped prevent any confrontation during the age check process. Fantastic to hear from Andrew during the plenary conference too, his session discussing the benefits of AI-powered assisted age estimation was very well received. Offline age-gating at the exhibition entrance was a fantastic use of the technology and we look forward to working with ITL on more projects in the future.”
