Nurturing Future Talent

Our team of multi-disciplined staff have had a varied path into STEM careers whether it has been through an apprenticeship, university or on the job skills training.

We like to do all we can to encourage young people to take up a STEM career, by providing a range of opportunities to give them a real insight into what their future career may look like.

Work Experience

Coming to the end of secondary school can be intimidating, there is a lot of pressure to choose what happens next and with so many options it’s hard to know which is right.

We offer week long placements for school students to come and experience life at work. You’ll work in a variety of departments getting to know the business, how it operates and the responsibilities and importance of each department. You’ll finish the week in our Engineering team getting hands on experience with one of our Engineers as well as being able to seek advice to help you find the correct career path.

Go4SET

We partner with The Engineering Development Trust (EDT) in hosting industry mentored projects. This involves teams from local schools working on an Engineering project in partnership with the Company. With a dedicated Engineer mentor over the 10 week period participants get to explore the creativity and innovation of an engineering career.

Summer Work Experience

Over the summer we open up opportunities for friends and family of existing ITL employees to come in over the 6 week break to gain experience and earn a wage. In your first year you’ll spend your time with our Production team gaining hands-on experience in a production environment. For individuals returning for another summer you’ll find yourself working in one of our support or science functions, seeing how they help to keep the business running smoothly and in the forefront of our customers minds.

Summer Placements

Each summer we have opportunities for university students who have completed their second year of university to gain experience as part of our Research & Development team, working on real projects in Mechanical, Electronics, Software or Science disciplines.

As well as getting to put what you’ve learnt so far into practice, you’ll also be making yourself stand out to potential future employers, demonstarting a passion for your chosen subject.

Industrial Placement

Taking a ‘Sandwich Year’ after your second year at university is a great way to gain all-important work experience and employability skills that will make you stand out to employers once you have graduated. You will spend an academic year working for us as a full-time member of staff; you will hold a real job with real responsibilities, working alongside talented engineers on exciting projects. You could even bag yourselves a career with us like Jonathan; a Graduate Electronics Engineer. Read his story in our blog.

Graduates

We have exceptional career opportunities for creative, hardworking Graduate Engineers.

Graduates will join an established team of Engineers or Scientists as we strive to design innovative products utilising the latest sensing technology for global customers.

We offer great benefits as well as the opportunity to learn from our talented colleagues all based at our state of the art facilities.

See how our graduates have adapted to working life by reading ‘The Graduate Adventure’ in our blog.
