The new €10 note

The new €10 banknote was unveiled by the European Central Bank today when it was announced that the note will enter circulation on the 23rd September 2014.

The new €10 will be easily recognisable as its design is similar to the existing €10 note. The design incorporates advances in banknote technology, making the note even more resistant to counterfeiting and it will also be more durable.

During the unveiling the ECB commented: “Today is a chance to highlight the importance of maintaining people’s trust in the Euro. One of the main reasons for introducing a new series of notes is to ensure that everyone who uses them can continue to do so with complete confidence”.

As a supplier of cash handling authentication devices we will work with the ECB to ensure a smooth transition for operators and the new €10 will be incorporated into all applicable Euro currency dataset in advance of the notes released on the 23rd September. Further information will follow on our website and within our technical bulletins.
